The Law Society of NSW is Australia's largest and most influential membership association for solicitors and co-regulator of the legal profession in NSW. The Law Society of NSW leads the regulation of trust accounts for approximately 4,800 law practices in NSW, with over $9 billion held in trust. Leading your team and developing the functionIt is fundamental to the protection of consumers, and the reputation of the legal profession, that solicitors comply with their legal obligations in handling trust money. The Trust Account Department plays a critical role in ensuring this occurs, it detects fraud and investigates breaches. It also operates compliance systems to ensure that solicitors are meeting their legal obligations. In addition, the Department supports members, and the profession more broadly, through education, tools and resources to make it easy to comply.The Society has recently completed a strategic review of its approach to regulation and has mapped out a reform agenda. Key to this approach is enhancing its approach to risk management, and enhanced use of data analytics to deter, detect and deal with fraud.  We are also looking to implement innovative technology-based approaches to promote compliance and educate the profession.Requirements   This is a position for leader with strong strategic vision and the ability to shape and implement an agenda to enhance the Society’s approach to regulation.
